Wayland Soccer Comedy Night Announced

Joint the Wayland High School Boys’ Soccer Program as they host a night of comedy and fund-raising on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 7:00PM – 9:30PM on WHS Main Stage & Commons. Comedians Tony V and Wayland’s own, Brad Mastrangelo, headline the night. A live auction and raffles will also take place with Mastrangelo acting as the auctioneer.

Proceeds from the night will support Wayland Soccer and our chosen charities:

Out of the Darkness (www.outofthedarkness.org/) and Kicks for Cancer (www.facebook.com/Kicks4Cancer).

McGrail is now a Greyhound

2011 WHS Soccer Captain, Griffin McGrail, has taken his soccer talents to Worcester where he is playing for Coach Ryan Levesque at Assumption College. In five games, Griffin has scored one goal.

TENTATIVE Practice on Monday 8/29

As of Sunday, 8/28 at 2:00PM, all levels will practice on Monday.

Check back for any changes or cancellations.

We have the turf from 10:00AM- 12:00PM.

Please bring sneakers and cleats.

We will meet after 12:00 for a meeting and JV/Varsity Uniform distribution. Plan on being at the school until 1:00PM.

Role of the Parent in Sports

According to the NFHS, “As a parent of a student who participates in athletics, you make a huge difference in the quality of your child’s sport experience, as well as what is being taught and learned by our youth. The National Federation of State High School Associations has provided information and resources to help educate you on the importance of proper behavior by parents in school sports.”

To that end, the NHFS provides a free on-line course to help parents support their athletes.

2011 Season Schedule Released

The Warriors head into a new season with some changes to the DCL. Both Arlington and Tyngsboro have left the league. This has caused major schedule changes. Wayland opens the season against Division 1 power L-S on September 5th at home. L-S joins AB and Westford Academy as the Division 1 teams that the Warriors will face twice this season. Wayland will also travel to Division 1 foe Masconomet in October. Again, the highlight of the season is the Kicks for Cancer game at Concord-Carlisle. This year’s game will pit Wayland against AB again in a rematch of last year’s tie game. The complet varsity and JV schedule can be accessed by clicking on the “Calendar” tab.

2011 Captains Announced

The captains for the 2011 season have been announced. Current juniors Mark Blahnik, , Chris D’Amico, Doug Lyons, and Nico Pascual-Leone hope to build on a successful 2010.

Nowak Joins Warriors Staff

WHS Spanish teacher Lisa Nowak has been named the Freshmen Boys Soccer Coach for the 2010 season. Nowak is in her second stint of teaching at WHS. Last year she taught and coached soccer in Rome. The Warrior coaching staff is excited to welcome Coach Nowak to the program.
