Wayland Soccer Comedy Night Announced

Joint the Wayland High School Boys’ Soccer Program as they host a night of comedy and fund-raising on Saturday, September 8, 2012 from 7:00PM – 9:30PM on WHS Main Stage & Commons. Comedians Tony V and Wayland’s own, Brad Mastrangelo, headline the night. A live auction and raffles will also take place with Mastrangelo acting as the auctioneer.

Proceeds from the night will support Wayland Soccer and our chosen charities:

Out of the Darkness (www.outofthedarkness.org/) and Kicks for Cancer (www.facebook.com/Kicks4Cancer).

Season Opener Slated for September 5th

Old friend, Tygnsborough, will face off on the turf for the Warriors season opener. Coach Gavron said, “We have had some success with Tyngsborough over the years. Not playing this year (2011) was a change for us. Coach Ogden does a great job with his club. I am glad that we have a home and home series for the next two seasons.” Kick off is slated for 4:00PM.

Scholar All-America Named

Nico Pascual-Leone has been named to the 2011 NSCAA High School Scholar All-America team. He is one of ten forwards in the United States to earn this distinction. He will be formally recognized in Kansas on Saturday, January 14th, 2012 at the NSCAA National Convention.

Season Celebration Potluck Set for November 30th

Post Season Awards Announced

Three Warriors were selected to the DCL All-League team: Chris D’Amico, Doug Lyons, and Nico Pascual-Leone. Pascual-Leone is on the team for the third consecutive year. He was also recognized as an All-State selection.

DCL 2nd Team All-Stars include Mark Blahnik, Hadrien Symon, and Andrew Herstine.

Coaches Gavron and Goodhue to Coach All-Star Game

Joining Senior Nico Pascual-Leone, Coaches David Gavron and Charles Goodhue will be on the sidelines to coach the Division II North All-stars against the South. You can catch the action at the EMSCA All-star Game on Friday, November 25, 2011, at Quincy Veterans Memorial Stadium. Kick off is scheduled for 9:00am.

Wayland to Face Lynn Tech on Monday

The Warriors will travel to Lynn’s Manning Field to face the #4 seed Lynn Tech at 5:00PM. Lynn Tech is a member of the Commonwealth League, where Greater Lowell was also a member. In their season’s matches, Lynn Tech tied Greater Lowell and defeated them by a score of 2-1. Lynn Tech is undefeated at home.

Senior Captain Nico Pascual-Leone scored the first two goals of the game in the first 11 minutes. Fellow Senior, Andrew Herstine scored his first career tourney goal. Senior Midfielder and Captain, Chris D’Amico finished the scoring with a 25 yard blast with under two minutes remaining in the game. Junior Keeper Matt Edwards recorded the shutout.

Wayland won twice on Saturday night. On the field, the Warriors scored a 3-0 victory of Boston Latin. Off the field, the Wayland Athletic Department split the gate revenues which provides the boys with $470 to donate to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
