The Warriors open up the 2017 season with scrimmages against Eastern Mass. powers including Belmont at home on Saturday, August 26th at 2:00pm. All three levels will play. On Tuesday, August 29th, the JV and Varsity teams will travel to play Oliver Ames, the 2015 Division II State Champs. The final scrimmage will send the Varsity to Wellesley to face a local Metrowest team.
Wayland will face Medway on Tuesday night at 5:00pm in Westwood. The Warriors earned a trip to Westwood with a win over Marblehead yesterday in the Division 3 North Championship at Manning Field. Charlie Halliwell scored the game winner early in the first half. Goals were also scored by Michael Jones and Marco Melero. Keeper Curran Murphy had his second shutout in as many games.
The Warriors will be hosting Westford Academy today at 4:00. Wayland is coming off a 4-0 win at Newton South on Tuesday. Michael Jones ’18, led all scorers with 2 goals and the game winning assist on Marco Melero’s ’18 first tally of the season. Joe Lyons ’18 scored his first varsity goal while making his first start at striker. Curran Murphy ’17 claimed the clean sheet with 10 saves.

2008 WHS graduate, Connor Meiselman, has accepted the Freshmen Boys Soccer Coach position for the 2012 season. Meiselman, a 2012 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, returns to his alma mater where he played goalie for and coached with Coach Gavron. “Connor has a wonderful demeanor. He has proven himself as a motivator of young men. I look forward to working closely with him this season,” said Coach Gavron.
Wayland won twice on Saturday night. On the field, the Warriors scored a 3-0 victory of Boston Latin. Off the field, the Wayland Athletic Department split the gate revenues which provides the boys with $470 to donate to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
